미국에 본부를 둔 종교 자유단체인 중국지원협회는 크리스마스 기간 중 중국 당국이 지하교회들을 급습해 교회 지도자들을 체포했다고 말했습니다.
이 협회는 목격자들의 말을 인용해 중국 북부 신장 지역에서 경찰이 크리스마스날인 25일 2백여명이 참석한 예배행사를 급습했다고 밝혔습니다.
중국지원협회는 경찰이 12명을 체포한 뒤 이 중 7명을 석방했다면서, 중국 경찰은 다른 지하교회와 목사들의 집도 급습했다고 말했습니다.

A U.S.-based religious rights organization says Chinese authorities arrested several church leaders during Christmas raids at underground churches.
The China Aid Association quotes witnesses who say on Christmas Day, (December 25th) police in the northwestern Xinjiang region raided a church service attended by more than 200 people.
The group says 12 church leaders were arrested -- seven of whom have since been released. China Aid Association says police conducted raids at one other underground church, as well as at the homes of pastors.
