이라크 바쿠바 인근 아부 사이다에서 19일 자살폭탄차량이 시아파 회교도의 장례식장에 돌진하면서 폭탄이 터져 35여명이 숨지고 50여명이 다쳤습니다.
경찰은 자살폭탄차량이 문상객들이 모여있는 장례 천막으로 돌진해 폭탄공격자가 폭탄을 터뜨렸다고 밝혔습니다.
이에 앞서 바그다드 동남부의 사람들로 붐비는 한 시장에서 차량폭탄이 폭발해 적어도 13명이 숨지고 20여명이 부상했습니다. 모술에서 이라크 경찰과 미군은 저항분자들과 교전을 벌여 8명의 저항분자들을 사살했습니다.
이라크 경찰은 또한 18일 카나킨 시에서 거의 80여명이 사망한 2건의 회교 사원 폭탄공격과 관련해 4명의 용의자들을 체포했다고 밝혔습니다. 한편 이라크 전쟁이 후 내부갈등을 빚고 있는 이라크 국민들의 화합방안을 모색하는 이라크 국민화합회담이 19일 카이로에서 사흘간의 일정으로 열렸습니다.

In Iraq, a suicide car bomber has attacked a Shi'ite funeral (Saturday), killing at least 35 people and injuring some 50 others. Police in the town of Abu Saida, near Baquba, say the bomber drove into a funeral tent where mourners were offering condolences and set off his explosives.
Earlier, in southeastern Baghdad, at least 13 people were killed and 20 wounded when a car bomb exploded in a busy market. In Mosul, Iraqi police and U.S. forces clashed with insurgents, killing eight militants. Also, Iraqi police say four people have been arrested in connection with Friday's double mosque bombings that killed nearly 80 people in the mainly Kurdish town of Khanaqin.
Against this backdrop of violence, leaders representing Iraq's Shi'ites, Kurds and disenfranchised Sunni Arabs began three days of national reconciliation talks in Cairo. The Arab League-hosted talks hope to stop sectarian conflict from engulfing Iraq.
