지중해에서 참치가 남획되고 있어 푸른지느러미 참치 어종이 멸종될 위기에 있다고 국제자연보호단체가 주장했습니다.
월드 와일드 라이프 재단,WWF는 16일, 발표한 보고서에서 지중해의 푸른지느러미 참치 어획량이 2004년 한 해에 4만5천 톤 내지 5 만 톤에 달해 국제위원회가 설정한 제한어획량인 3만2천 톤을 훨씬 넘어서 참치수가 위기수준에 달했다고 경고하고 유럽연합에게 올해의 참치잡이 기간을 예정보다 2주일 단축시키라고 촉구했습니다.

An international conservation group is warning that overfishing in the Mediterranean Sea is bringing the much desired bluefin tuna close to extinction.
The World Wildlife Fund said Wednesday the bluefin population in the Mediterranean is now at a crisis point.
It says between 45 and 50-thousand tons of the fish were caught in 2004 -- far above the 32-thousand ton limit established by an international commission.
