호주의 알렉산더 다우너 외무장관은 호주는 북한이 핵 계획을 포기할 경우, 북한에 폭넓은 원조를 제공할 준비가 돼 있다고 밝혔습니다.
다우너 장관은 아시아 태평양 경제 협력체 에이펙 외교통상 장관회의 참석을 위해 방문중인 한국에서 14일 그같이 말했습니다.
다우너 장관은 북한이 검증가능한 방법으로 핵 계획을 포기하면, 호주는 상당한 개발 원조와 에너지 지원, 그리고 핵 시설 해체 과정에서 핵 안전 관련 기술을 제공할 용의가 있다고 말했습니다.

Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer says Canberra is ready to provide North Korea with a broad range of aid, if the reclusive country abandons its nuclear program.
Mr. Downer made the comment today (Monday) in South Korea, where he is attending the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum meetings this week. He said once North Korea verifiably abandons its nuclear programs, Australia is willing to provide significant development aid, energy assistance and nuclear safeguard assistance in dismantling the North Korean nuclear facilities.
Australia is not participating in the six-party talks on North Korea's nuclear weapons program, but has said it is interested in stability on the Korean peninsula.
