선서식에서는 바오로 2세 교황의 개인비서 출신인 스타니스로 지위스즈 크라코 대주교가 개회 기도를 했습니다.
시성식 절차는 통상 교황이 사망한 지 5년이 지난 뒤 시작되지만 베네딕트 현 교황은 많은 사람들의 존경을 받은 바오로 2세를 위해 그같은 절차를 생략했습니다.

The beatification process for the late Pope John Paul the Second has begun in his native city, Krakow, Poland. Beatification is the final step toward possible canonization, or sainthood.
A tribunal to gather testimony on whether John Paul should be beatified was sworn in Friday as it started its work.
The late pope's long-time personal secretary, Stanislaw Dziwisz, now Archbishop of Krakow, led opening prayers.
John Paul died April second. There is normally a five-year waiting period for beatification, but Pope Benedict waived it in the case of his much-loved predecessor.
