미국 상원의 해리 레이드 민주당 원내총무는 조지 부쉬 대통령에게 미 연방 수사국, CIA 비밀 요원 신분 노출 사건과 관련해 조사를 받고 있는 칼 로브 백악관 부 비서실장을 해임할 것을 촉구했습니다.
레이드 원내 대표는 로브씨를 해임하는데 더해서 부쉬 대통령의 사과도 요구했습니다. 부쉬 대통령은 앞서, CIA 요원의 신분 노출에 책임이 있는 것으로 밝혀진다면 누구라도 해고할 것이라고 했습니다.
공화당의 트렌트 로트 상원의원 역시, 로브 부 비서실장이 계속 수사를 받고 있는 한 부시 대통령은 로브씨에 대해 모종의 조치를 취해야 할 것이라고 시사했습니다.

The leader of the opposition Democrats in the U.S. Senate is calling on President Bush to fire a top adviser under investigation in the public identification of a covert CIA officer. Democratic Senator Harry Reid called on Mr. Bush to apologize, in addition to firing White House deputy chief of staff .
The president has said in the past he would dismiss anyone found responsible for revealing the name of the CIA operative. Republican Senator Trent Lott also suggested the president should, quote, "deal with" Mr. Rove if he remains under investigation.
Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis Libby, resigned last week after he was indicted on five charges in connection with the case, including perjury and making false statements. Mr. Rove has not been indicted, but the special prosecutor says he remains under investigation.
