리덩후이 전 타이완 총통은 민주국가들이 중국의 경제성장에 대해 경계하는 한편 침략적 행위를 용인하지 말 것을 촉구했습니다.
리 전 총통은 21일 미국 로스앤젤레스에서의 연설에서 미국과 국제사회가 단결해 세계에서 인구가 가장 많은 중국 내 자유를 증진하는 일에 협력해야 한다고 말했습니다.
리 전 총통은 자유국가들은 세계와 지역 차원에서의 협력을 개발하고 강화해 중국민들의 자유와 민주주의를 위한 투쟁을 지원하는 한편 중국의 억압과 침략 행위를 저지하기 위한 조처를 취해야 한다고 말했습니다.

Former Taiwan President Lee Teng-hui has urged democratic nations to be on alert as China grows in economic strength and to not to tolerate its aggression.
Speaking in Los Angeles Friday, Mr. Lee said the United States and the world community should unite to promote freedom in the world's most populous country.
He said, "Free nations must develop and strengthen their global and regional cooperation in both supporting the people of China in their struggle for freedom and democracy as well as taking measures to stop Chinese acts of oppression and aggression."
The former Taiwanese leader spoke at an event sponsored by the Formosa Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to democracy in Taiwan.
