Russian military officials say the navy has successfully tested a ballistic missile fired from a nuclear submarine submerged in the Barents Sea.
A Defense Ministry spokesman said today (Saturday) the missile hit its target on a firing range on the Kamchatka peninsula on Russia's east coast.
Russia's Itar-Tass news agency quotes ministry officials as saying it is the sixth sea-based test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM, this year.
