Published reports say Chinese authorities have shut down three Internet websites as part of a crackdown on Internet news services.
The Paris-based media freedom group Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Sans Frontiers - RSF) said China had shut down two Inner-Mongolian websites for allegedly hosting "separatist content."
RSF said Beijing's controls on ethnic minorities were more restrictive than for the rest of China's population.
U.S.-based Radio Free Asia says authorities have closed an online forum that had covered protests in Taishi village in southern China's Guangdong province. It said the site was popular among intellectuals and rights activists.
China's new regulations say Internet news sites and content must provide information that is beneficial to the public and state. They forbid sites from spreading news that goes against what is called China's security and public interest.
