일본은 북한과 쌍무회담을 재개할 것이라고 발표했습니다. 일본의 마찌무라 노부다까 외상은 20일, 이 회담에서는 핵문제와 일본인 납치 문제등이 논의될 것이라고 말했습니다.
북한은 13명의 일본인들을 납치했다고 시인한바 있으며 그중 5명은 자녀들과 함께 일본으로 돌아갔습니다. 북한은 나머지 8명은 사망했다고 발표했습니다.
일본과 북한은 2002년 외교관계를 수립하자고 다짐했었습니다. 그러나 정상화를 위해 열린 회담들은 납북자 문제로 교착상태에 빠졌습니다. 양측간의 최근 회담은 작년 11월에 열렸습니다.
마찌무라 외상은 차기 회담의 특정 시기나 장소를 언급하지 않았습니다. 북한과 일본은 아직까지 한번도 외교관계를 수립한바 없습니다.

Japan has announced that it will resume bilateral talks with North Korea.
Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura said today (Tuesday) that the talks would cover the nuclear issue and the abduction of Japanese citizens by Pyongyang decades ago.
North Korea has admitted abducting 13 Japanese, five of whom have returned to Japan with their children. Pyongyang says the other eight are dead.
Japan and North Korea committed to establishing diplomatic relations in 2002. However, the sporadic talks toward normalization have stalled over the abductions issue.
The last substantial talks between the two sides took place last November. Mr. Machimura did not give a time or place for a next round of talks.
The two countries have never had diplomatic relations.
