이라크 수도 바그다드와 그 주변에서 발생한 저항세력의 연쇄 공격으로 100여 명이 사망하고 수 십 명이 부상했습니다. 사상자들의 대부분은 시어파 회교도였습니다.
차량 자폭테러로 90명 이상이 숨지고 최소한 160여 명이 중경상을 입은 최악의 공격은 14일 아침 바그다드에 있는 시어파회교도 밀집지역에서 발생했습니다.
VOA 바그다드 특파원은 보안강화지역 ‘그린존’ 인근 한 상점에서 또 다른 차량폭탄테러로 5 명의 이라크인이 사망하고 이라크 내무차관 차량행렬에 대한 공격으로 세 명의 경찰관이 목숨을 잃었다고 전해왔습니다.
이외에도 바그다드 주변에서는 여러건의 공격이 발생했으며, 미군 차량을 표적으로 한 자동차 폭탄 공격으로 미군 여러명도 부상했다고 미군 관계자들이 밝혔습니다.
이보다 앞서 바그다드 북쪽 소도시 타지에서는 무장 괴한들이 주민들을 집에서 끌고 나가 17명을 총격살해했습니다.
이라크의 알 카이다 테러 그룹 소속이라고 밝힌 한 인터넷은 북부 도시 탈 아파르에 대한 미군과 이라크 군의 최근 공격에 보복하기 위해 자신들이 이들 공격을 저질렀다고 주장했습니다.

A series of insurgent attacks in and near Baghdad has killed more than 100 people and wounded scores of others -- mostly Shi'ite Muslims.
The deadliest attack took place early today (Wednesday) in Baghdad's mainly Shi'ite Kazimiyah district, where a suicide car bombing killed more than 90 people and wounded at least 160 others.
The VOA correspondent in Baghdad says five Iraqis were killed in a car bombing in a market area (near the Green Zone) and a separate attack on the Iraqi deputy interior minister's convoy killed three policemen.
There were several other deadly attacks around Baghdad and military officials say several U.S. soldiers were wounded in car bombings targeting U.S. military convoys.
Earlier, in a small town (Taji) north of Baghdad, gunmen shot and killed at least 17 people after dragging them out of their homes.
An Internet posting attributed to the al-Qaida in Iraq terrorist group said it carried out the wave of attacks in Baghdad to avenge a U.S. and Iraqi military offensive against rebels in the northern town of Tal Afar.
