이라크에서 쿠르드족과 회교 시아파 및 수니파 협상대표들이 22일 밤의 마감시한에 앞서 헌법 초안에 관한 합의를 도출하기 위해 마라톤 협상을 벌이고 있습니다.
협상 대표들은 정치적 자치와 세수 분배 그리고 전후 이라크에서 회교 법률의 역할 문제를 둘러싸고 이견을 좁히지 못하고 있습니다. 이라크 정부 대변인은 협상 대표들이 22 일 자정까지 합의를 도출하지 못할 경우에 국회가 마감 시한을 2번째로 연기하기 위해서 표결을 실시해야 할 수도 있다고 말했습니다.
한편 미군은 유엔 주재 이라크 대사의 친척의 사망에 관한 범죄 조사에 착수했다고 밝혔습니다. 지난 6월 이라크 서부에서 사미르 수마이다이에 대사의 사촌의 아들이 미 해병대의 자택 수색 과정에서 사망했습니다.
또 다른 사태 발전으로 사마라에서 이라크 가족 5명이 사살된 채 발견됐고 티크리트 근처에서 미군 병사 한명이 도로변 폭탄 공격으로 사망했습니다.

Iraqi Kurdish, Sunni and Shi'ite negotiators are holding marathon talks, in a push to reach agreement on a draft constitution ahead of a Monday deadline.
Negotiators have been unable to bridge differences over issues of political autonomy, revenue distribution and the role of Islamic law in the new charter.
An Iraqi spokesman (Laith Kubba) says lawmakers may have to vote to extend negotiations for a second time, if an agreement is not reached by midnight Monday.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military says it has opened a criminal probe into the death of a relative of Iraq's ambassador to the United Nations. The son of Ambassador Samir Sumaidaie's cousin was killed in June as U.S. Marines searched his home in western Iraq.
In other developments, an Iraqi family of five was found shot dead in Samarra, and a U.S. soldier was killed by a roadside bomb near Tikrit.
