그리스의 수도 아테네 근교에서 14일 121명의 탑승자를 태운 채 추락한 키프러스 여객기 사고에서 생존자는 없다고 그리스 관계관들이 밝혔습니다.
관계관들은 사망한 6명의 승무원과 48명의 어린이들이 포함된 115명의 승객들 대부분 또는 모두가 키프러스 인들이었다고 밝혔습니다.
헬리오스 에어웨이즈 항공사 소속 522편은 아테네에서 북동쪽으로 약 40킬로미터 떨어진 산악 지대에 추락했을 당시 아테네를 향해 접근하고 있었습니다. 키프러스와 그리스 관리들은 모두 이번 사고가 테러 공격임을 나타내는 조짐은 없다고 말했습니다.
그리스 당국은 이번 사고가 갑작스런 기내 압력 하락으로 산소 부족현상이 발생해 승객과 승무원들이 의식을 잃게됨으로써 초래되지 않았나 의심하고 있습니다. 그리스 텔레비전 방송은 한 탑승객이 비행기 추락 직전에 자신의 사촌에게 승객들이 추위에 떨고 있으며 한 조종사의 안색이 파랗게 변했다는 내용의 휴대 전화 문자 메세지를 보냈다고 보도했습니다.
아테네를 경유해 프라하로 가기 위해 키프러스의 라나카에서 이륙한 이 여객기의 비행 기록과 조종실 음성 녹음이 담겨있는 블랙박스는 회수됐습니다.

Helios Airways flight 522 was approaching Athens when it slammed into a mountainous area about 40 kilometers northeast of the Greek capital.
Both Greek and Cypriot officials have said they do not think the crash of the Boeing 737 jet was caused by terrorism.
Greek authorities suspect the crash was caused by a sudden loss of cabin pressure that deprived the crew and passengers of oxygen.
One passenger reportedly sent a mobile text message to a cousin, saying it was freezing on the plane and that one of the pilots had turned blue in the face.
The flight data and cockpit voice recorders have been recovered from the plane that left Larnaca, Cyprus for Prague with a planned stop in Athens.
