북한 관영 조선 중앙 통신은 한국이 미국과 군사훈련을 벌이고 있기 때문에 남북 군사회담을 재개할 수 없다는 북한군 대변인의 13일자 성명을 보도했습니다.
이 성명은 남북 양측이 군사 회담의 날짜에 관해 합의보지 못한 지 하루 만에 나왔습니다.
미군은 연례적으로 실시되는 “을지 포커스 렌즈” 훈련이 주로 컴퓨터 시물레이션 기동 훈련이라고 말하고 있습니다. 그러나, 평양측은 매년 이 훈련을 북침을 위한 예행 연습이라고 비난하고 있습니다.

North Korea says military talks with Seoul cannot be held because of military exercises South Korea is holding with the United States.
The North's official Korean Central News Agency carried a statement from a military spokesman today (Saturday) saying talks could not resume because of the exercises.
The statement came a day after the two sides failed to agree on a date for the talks.
The U.S. military says the annual exercise (named Ulchi Focus Lens) is largely a computer-simulated war game. But Pyongyang each year calls it a rehearsal for an invasion of North Korea.
Military talks between the two Koreas were held in June of 2004, but were suspended over mass defections of North Koreans to the south.
