타이완 정부는 중국 대륙의 관광객 유치를 위한 중국과의 대화를 민간단체들이 맡도록 허가했습니다.
중국은 지난 5월 자국 관광객들에게 타이완 여행을 허용할 용의가 있다면서 구체적인 사안들에 대해 협의할 것을 대만측에 요구한 바 있습니다.
대중국 정책을 관장하는 타이완 대륙위원회는 타이완 여행협회에 대해 중국의 해당 기구와 대화를 시작하도록 요청했다고 29일 밝혔습니다.
베이징은 타이완의 천수이벤 총통이 독립추구 정책을 포기하지 않는한 천 총통 정부와의 직접대화를 거부한다고 말해왔습니다. 타이완은 본토에서 오는 관광객중 불법으로 일자리를 구하거나 첩보활동을 위해 비자기간이 만료돼도 계속 체류하려는 사람들이 있을 것을 염려해 왔습니다.

Taiwan has authorized a private group to handle talks with China on opening up the island to mainland tourists.
China said in May it would be willing to allow mainland tourists to visit the island, and called for negotiations with Taipei on details of an agreement.
Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council, which formulates policy towards Beijing, said today (Friday) it has asked the island's Travel Agent Association to begin talks with its counterpart organization on the mainland.
Beijing has refused to deal directly with Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian's administration unless Mr. Chen first renounces his pro-independence stance. On Taiwan's part, there are concerns that tourists from the mainland could overstay their visas to seek illegal jobs, or possibly to operate as spies.
