미 국무부는 멕시코로 여행하는 자국민들에게 미국 – 멕시코간 국경지대의 폭력 위험 수위가 받아들이기 어려운 정도라고 지적하면서 또다시 여행 주의령을 내렸습니다.
미 국무부 관리들은 26일 발표된 이 여행주의령은 폭력에 의한 사망자가 지난 6월이래 100여명 이상되고 올해 양국간 접경 마을인 누에보 라레도에서 18명의 경찰이 살해돼 그 필요성이 제기됐다고 말했습니다.
이번 여행 주의령은 지난 4월에 발표된 유사한 여행 주의보를 상향 조정한 것입니다.

The U.S. State Department has renewed a travel advisory for U.S. citizens crossing into Mexico, saying there is an "unacceptable" level of violence in the border region.
Officials say the advisory (issued Tuesday) was necessary due to the more than 100 violent deaths that have occurred since June and the killing of 18 policemen in the border town of Nuevo Laredo this year.
The advisory acknowledges the Mexican government's efforts to address the continuing violence, but says Mexico City still needs to do much more to tackle the problem along the 31-hundred kilometer border.
Hours after the State Department announcement, the Mexican government said it has made a series of efforts to stop the violence and is searching for long-term solutions to the problem.
The U.S. announcement updates a similar notice issued in April.
