중국의 큰 강들이 극도로 오염됐음이 정부 보고서에서 나타났다고 차이나 데일리지가 보도했습니다. 차이나 데일리는 30일, 중국 인민대표회의 쉥 후아렌 의원이 작성한 보고서를 인용하며 이같이 보도했습니다.
쉥 의원은 인민대표회의 연설에서 중국내 7대 강중 5개 강이 심각하게 오염됐으며 여기 포함되지 않은 양쯔강도 오염이 점차 악화되고 있다고 말했습니다.
차이나 데일리 신문은 중국 남부를 흐르는 진주 강은 대형 산업도시인 광조우 일대의 오염을 제외하고는 비교적 양호한 것으로 보고서가 밝혔다고 전했습니다.
쉥 의원은 또 3억명 이상의 농촌주민들이 안전한 식수를 갖고 있지 못하며, 1억 9천만명은 유해 물질이 들어있는 물을 마시고 있다고 지적했습니다.
이 보고서는 베이징 당국에 수질 오염방지를 위한 목표를 설정하고 빈곤한 지역에 대한 투자를 집중하라고 촉구했습니다.

Chinese media say a government report shows the country's major rivers are seriously polluted. The China Daily newspaper today (Thursday) quoted from a report made by Sheng Huaren, a senior official of China's parliament.
Mr. Sheng told lawmakers that five of the nation's seven major rivers are seriously polluted, while another, Yangtze, faced worsening pollution.
The paper quoted Mr. Sheng as saying the Pearl River (which flows through southern China) is generally in good condition except for a seriously polluted section near the major industrial city of Guangzhou.
Mr. Sheng also said that more than 300 million rural residents do not have safe drinking water, while another 190 million people drink water containing harmful contaminants. The report urged Beijing to set goals to prevent water pollution and concentrate spending on poorer regions.
