한국은 북한에 대해 다음 달 북핵 6자 회담에 복귀하라고 촉구하고 있습니다.
이에 대해 22일 서울에서 개막된 남,북한 장관급 회담의 북한 대표는 미국이 우호적으로 대우한다면 평양측은 자체 핵 계획을 포기할 태세로 있다고 말했습니다.
지난 주 북한 지도자, 김정일 국방 위원장은 6자 회담이 이르면 7월에 재개될수도있을 것이라고 말했습니다.
미국 정부는 북한에게 지난 해부터 교착 상태에 빠진 이 회담의 재개 일자를 정하라고 요청해오고있습니다.
한편, 중국의 후진타오 국가 주석은 22일 베이징에서 이해찬 남한 총리를 만나 이 총리와 함께 외교로 북핵 문제를 해결하도록 촉구했습니다.

South Korea is urging North Korea to return to six-party talks on Pyongyang's nuclear program next month.
Delegates from the two sides opened talks in Seoul today (Wednesday), which are expected to continue Thursday.
A North Korean official at the talks said Pyongyang is ready to abandon its nuclear program in exchange for friendly treatment from the United States.
Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il said the talks could resume as early as July.
Washington has asked Pyongyang to set a date for new talks, which have been stalled since last year.
Meantime, Chinese President Hu Jintao met South Korea's prime minister in Beijing, where they called for diplomacy to resolve the nuclear dispute.
