하이메 신 추기경은 마르코스 전 대통령과 그의 실정을 신랄히 규탄했으며 1986년 마르코스 대통령에 대항해 백만명의 시민들을 규합,시민 혁명으로 이끌었습니다.

Philippine Roman Catholic Cardinal Jaime Sin, a key figure in the famed "people power" revolt that ousted dictator Ferdinand Marcos, has died at the age of 76.
The cardinal, who died early today, had been suffering from kidney problems in recent years. He retired in 2003. Jaime Sin was born in 1928 in the central province of Aklan, the 14th of 16 children of an immigrant Chinese businessman.
He was ordained in 1954 and became cardinal in 1973. He became a vocal critic of President Marcos and his tightfisted rule. The cardinal rallied a million people in February 1986 against Mr. Marcos, who fled the country and died in exile. Cardinal Sin also helped lead the large street protests in 2001 that led to the ouster of President Joseph Estrada over alleged corruption.
In addition to his political stands, the cardinal also staunchly opposed efforts by former President Fidel Ramos to encourage the use of birth control.
