마이어스 장군은 관타나모 수용소는 본질적으로 수감자들에게 회교 경전 코란과 이른바 회교에 어긋나지 않는 적절한 음식이 제공되는 모범적인 시설이라고 말했습니다. 마이어스 장군은 미군은 수감자들을 인도적으로 다룰 것이라는 조지 부쉬 미국 대통령의 약속을 이행하고 있다고 덧붙였습니다.

The top U.S. general has rejected an accusation that the U.S. military prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, has become "the gulag of our time".
In an interview with the television program "Fox News Sunday," General Richard Myers said Amnesty International's comparison to Soviet prison camps is "absolutely irresponsible."
The Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman called Guantanamo "essentially a model facility," where detainees receive copies of the Koran and what he called "proper, Muslim-approved food." He said the military is carrying out President Bush's pledge to treat prisoners humanely.
