클린턴 전 대통령과 마이크 후커비 아칸소 주지사는 2010년까지 미국내 아동 비만을 방지할 것이라고 3일 뉴욕에서 다짐했습니다.
이들은 어린이들의 건강한 식생활 습관을 증진하고 신체 운동을 장려하기 위해 미국 심장 협회와 함께 공동 협력할 것이라고 기자들에게 밝혔습니다.
클린턴 전 대통령은 미국 어린이 6명중 한명이 과체중으로, 비만은, 심장병과 당뇨병을 유발할 수도 있다고 말했습니다.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has launched a campaign to reduce obesity among American children. Speaking in New York Tuesday, Mr. Clinton and Mike Huckabee, the governor of the southern state of Arkansas, vowed to halt childhood obesity in the United States by 2010. They told reporters that they will work with the American Heart Association to promote healthy eating habits in children and encourage them to exercise. Mr. Clinton said one out of six U.S. children is obese, which can lead to heart disease and diabetes. Mr. Clinton had heart bypass surgery last September. Governor Huckabee lost 50 kilograms after being diagnosed with Type Two diabetes.
