교황 베네딕토 16세는 이날 바티칸의 성 베드로 광장에서 수세기에 걸친 의식으로 로마 가톨릭 교회의 새 지도자로 등극했습니다.

Pope Benedict the 16th has formally been installed as the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church in centuries-old ceremonies at St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
The new pontiff today (Sunday) celebrated the first Mass of his papacy attended by tens of thousands of pilgrims, many from his native Germany, and dozens of world leaders and dignitaries.
In his homily, Benedict called for unity among Christian churches, saying there should be "one flock, one shepherd," and conveyed a special greeting to "believers and non-believers alike." In a message to the Jewish people, the new pope said Catholics and Jews are joined by a great shared spiritual heritage.

Parts of the Mass were read in several languages, including Arabic, Chinese, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
