A leading Chinese oil producer has signed an oil agreement with Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea's Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy signed a five-year production-sharing agreement Friday with the China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC).
China's official Xinhua news agency says CNOOC will conduct seismic surveys and drill exploratory wells. Company Vice President Zhu Mingcai called the deal another sign of progress in the firm's overseas expansion.
The agreement with Equatorial Guinea is another in a string of recent oil deals with African nations. China, the world's second-leading oil consumer behind the United States, last month inked a two-point-three billion dollar oil agreement with Nigeria.
