Nigerian aviation officials say 103 people were killed today (Saturday) when a domestic airliner crashed on landing in the southern city of Port Harcourt. An aviation spokesman (Sam Adurogboye) says that seven of the 110 people on board survived the crash.
Witnesses say the plane went down in stormy weather and burst into flames upon landing. Many secondary school students were reported on board the flight, which was bringing passengers from the capital, Abuja, nearly 500 kilometers to the north.
