[English with Yoo] Better late than never

안녕하세요 English with Yoo! 의 Jennifer Yoo입니다. English with Yoo!

I’ll give you a daily introduction to some meaningful and useful everyday English words and phrases! So let’s get started today!
오늘의 영어 표현은: Better late than never 입니다.

I was in the middle of asking my apartment office manager, Paul, some questions about my apartment lease when a previous resident came to turn in his apartment keys.
Today’s phrase is ‘better late than never’. Listen carefully!

Better late than never
Paul: I have your name on my desk and I’ve left you a message (voice message) once, but better late than never right?
Tom: Yes, that’s right. Do I owe you guys any money for the key?
Paul: Well, no because we got it here. We’ll deposit it (refundable housing security deposit) in about the end of next week I believe.
Paul: Do you mind?
Jen: No go ahead (No, I don’t mind, go ahead and help Tom first), better late than never right?

Tom, a previous resident at the apartment complex forgot to turn in his keys to the leasing office when he moved out. So Paul, the office manager, tried getting in touch with him by leaving him a voice message on his cell phone and he finally showed up with his keys. Paul was really happy about that.

Tom asked if he owes the office any money because he turned in the keys late but Paul says that it’s going to be alright and the refundable housing security deposit will be sent to him by the end of the week.
