반정부 시위를 주도하고 있는 시민단체 '국민 민주주의 연대'는 지금까지의 전술을 바꿔 시위대에게 솜차이 옹사왓 총리 공관의 점거를 끝내라고 말했습니다.
반정부 시위대는 지난 8월부터 총리 공관을 점거해 왔으나, 시위대에 대한 계속된 공격 때문에 정부 청사에 머무르는 것이 너무 위험하게 됐다고 시위 지도부가 밝혔습니다.
어제도 정부 청사에 있던 시위대를 겨냥한 수류탄 공격으로 49명이 다쳤습니다.
한편 반정부 시위대의 이 같은 전술 변화는 집권 여당의 해산으로 이어질 수 있는 태국 법원의 판결을 앞두고 나온 것입니다. 태국 헌법 재판소가 이틀 안에 내릴 것으로 예상되는 선거 부정 사건에 관한 판결에 따라 솜차이 총리의 집권 '국민의 힘' 당과 다른 연립 정당들이 해산될 수 있습니다.
Protesters in Thailand are reinforcing their positions at Bangkok's two main airports, as an estimated 100-thousand travelers remain stranded.
In a switch of tactics, the People's Alliance for Democracy told its supporters Monday to end their occupation of Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat's office compound in Bangkok.
Protesters have been occupying the compound since August, but protest leaders now say it is too dangerous to stay at Government House because of repeated attacks against the group.
In the latest incident, a grenade blast at the compound early Sunday wounded 49 people.
The protesters' shift in tactics comes before a court decision this week that could oust the government.
Thailand's Constitutional Court is expected to rule on Tuesday or Wednesday in a voter fraud case that could lead to the disbanding of Mr. Somchai's People Power Party and other coalition parties.
