Thousands of Thai government supporters have rallied in downtown Bangkok to denounce anti-government demonstrators who are seeking to oust Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.
The pro-government demonstration today (Sunday)further inflamed tensions in the capital, where 100-thousand foreign tourists have been stranded for days. The rally was held to show support for the embattled prime minister, who took office in August.
Hours earlier, explosions at anti-government protest sites in the city wounded more than 50 people. No arrests have been reported and no one has claimed responsibility.
The explosions occurred at the city's domestic airport, which is occupied by thousands of anti-government demonstrators, and the prime minister's Bangkok office compound, which has been held by protesters since August. Other blasts rocked an anti-government television station.
