이란 관영 IRNA 통신은 모스타파 모하마드 나자르 이란 국방장관을 인용해 '세질' 이라는 이름의 이 미사일이 고체연료 엔진을 장착하고 있어 빠른 발사 추진력을 갖고 있다고 보도했습니다. 나자르 장관은 이 미사일이 방어용이라고 밝힌 것으로 전해졌습니다. 통신은 그러나 미사일 실험이 언제 실시됐는지는 밝히지 않았습니다.
이란은 이미 샤하브 3로 불리는 중거리 미사일을 보유하고 있습니다. 이란 당국은 샤하브 3 미사일의 사정거리가 2천 킬로미터로 이스라엘과 미국 동맹국들에 닿을 수 있다고 주장한 바 있습니다. 미국과 서방 국가들은 이란이 핵무기 개발 계획을 추진 중이라며 비난하고 있지만 이란은 핵 계획이 전력생산용이라고 주장해 왔습니다.

Iran says it has successfully test-fired a new generation of ground to ground missiles.
Iranian state media (IRNA) quote Defense Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar as saying the high-speed Sejil missiles use solid fuel. He said they were made by Iranian aerospace experts of the armed forces.
Najjar also said the missiles were intended for defense purposes.
It was unclear where the missiles were tested.
Iran has tested missiles in the past and is believed to possess a medium-range rocket known as the Shahab-Three. Iran says it has a range of two-thousand kilometers, putting Israel and other U.S. allies within range.
The United States and its Western allies accuse Iran of working to produce a nuclear weapon. Iran says its atomic program is for producing electricity.
