국제원자력기구 IAEA의 모하메드 엘바라데이 사무총장은 30일 IAEA 조사요원들이 회원국들의 신고되지 않은 핵활동까지 조사할 수 있어야 한다고 말했습니다.
엘바라데이 사무총장은 이날 오스트리아 빈에서 열린 회의에서, 핵 정보와 시설에 대한 IAEA의 접근권한을 확대하는 이른바 "추가 의정서"를 더 많은 회원국들이 채택해야한다고 촉구했습니다.
이란은 추가 의정서를 채택하라는 IAEA의 요청을 거부한바 있습니다.
IAEA는 추가 의정서를 채택한 나라에 대해 신고되지 않은 은밀한 핵 활동을 포함해 모든 활동을 조사할 수 있게 돼있습니다.

The head of the U.N.'s nuclear agency says nations must
allow investigators to search for possible undeclared activities.
At a meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency today (Tuesday)in Vienna, Mohamad ElBaradei urged wider adoption of what is known as the
"Additional Protocol," expanding the agency's right of access to
information and sites.
Iran
has rebuffed ElBaradei's calls for it to adopt the protocol, which would allow
inspection of both declared and possible undeclared activities. Tehran is in a standoff
with the IAEI over its nuclear program. Iran says it is for peaceful
purposes, but western countries argue it could be used to make weapons.
Also today, Syria and Afghanistan
became the final contenders for a possible seat on the IAEA board, after
several other nations withdrew.
