쓰촨 성 대지진을 조사하고 있는 중국 국립원찬 지진전문가위원회의 마 종진 위원장은 오늘 베이징에서 가진 기자회견에서, 최근 몇 년 동안 수많은 학교 건물이 지어지면서 일부 부실시공이 있었을 것이라고 말했습니다.
중국 당국은 쓰촨 성 대지진으로 7만 명 가까운 사망자가 발생했고, 7천 개의 학교 건물이 붕괴되면서 학생과 교사 수천 명이 사망했다고 밝혔습니다.

The head of a Chinese panel of experts investigating the country's massive
Sichuan earthquake says a rush to build schools in recent years may be why so
many of them collapsed.
Speaking at a press conference today (Thursday) in Beijing, Ma Zongjin
noted that a lot of schools were built in recent years and that some may have
had substandard construction.
Sichuan's May 12th earthquake killed nearly 70-thousand people. The government
says around seven-thousand schools collapsed, killing thousands of students and
teachers.
The collapse of so many schools sparked an uproar from parents. Authorities
have yet to say just how many children died during the quake.
