이란 관영통신 IRNA는 외무부 관리의 말을 인용해 이란 정부는 미국 정부 측이 공식 경로를 통해 요청해 오는대로 이를 검토할 것이라고 보도했습니다. 미국 관리들은 앞서 23일 국무부가 쿠바에 설치한 이른바 '이익 대표부'와 유사한 형태의 외무 사무소를 이란에 개설하는 것에 대해 논의하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
익명의 관리들은 외무 사무소 개설을 통해 이란과의 공식 외교관계 재개 없이 미국 측이 이란 내에 주재할 수 있도록 할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

Iran says it will consider any
request by the United States to open a diplomatic office in the Islamic
Republic -- after U.S. officials said the Bush administration is considering
such a move.
Iran's state news agency (IRNA) today (Tuesday) quoted a Foreign
Ministry official as saying Tehran would study the request as long as it is
received through official channels.
U.S. officials said Monday that the State Department is debating opening a
diplomatic office in Iran similar to the U.S. interests section in Cuba.
The unnamed officials said the proposal would create a U.S. presence in Iran
without the formal resumption of diplomatic ties.
It calls for setting up an office in Tehran staffed by American diplomats who
would process visas for Iranians applying to visit the United States.
