짐바브웨 경찰은 23일 오전 하라레에 소재한 민주변화운동(MDC) 본부를 급습했습니다. 야당 대변인은 경찰이 약 60명을 체포해 갔다며, 최근
선거 관련 폭력의 희생자들은 대부분 여성들과 어린이들이라고 밝혔습니다.
창기라이 총재는 23일 한 남아프리카공화국 라디오 방송과의 회견에서 자신들은 여당과 짐바브웨의 미래에 관해 협상할 준비가 돼 있지만, 단지 폭력이 중단될 때에만 그렇게 할 것이라고 말했습니다.
한편 짐바브웨 선거관리위원회는 창기라이 후보로부터 사퇴의사를 확인하는 서한을 받지 못했다며 대통령 결선 투표를 오는 27일 예정대로 실시할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.

Officials in Amsterdam say Zimbabwean opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has taken refuge at the Dutch embassy in Harare.The Dutch foreign ministry has confirmed Dutch media reports today(Monday) that Mr. Tsvangirai is in the embassy.
Mr. Tsvangirai announced his withdrawal from Zimbabwe's presidential run-off on Sunday, saying politically-motivated violence against his supporters made the election impossible.
Earlier today, police raided the Movement for Democratic Change headquarters in Harare. A party spokesman (Nelson Chamisa) says police took away about 60 people. He says most of them are women and children who were victims of recent political violence.
Mr. Tsvangirai told a South African radio station today that his party is prepared to negotiate with the ruling ZANU-PF party over Zimbabwe's future, but only if the violence is halted.
Zimbabwean officials say the run-off between Mr. Tsvangirai and President Robert Mugabe will go ahead as planned on Friday because Mr. Tsvangirai has not turned in written confirmation of his withdrawal to electoral officials.
