미국과 80여개의 공여국과 기구들이 앞으로 5년간 아프가니스탄의 재건을 지원하기 위해 1백40억 달러를 추가 지원하기로 공약했습니다.
미국의 로라 부시 영부인은 프랑스의 수도 파리에서 개최된 국제 공여국 회의에서 미국이 1백억 달러 이상을 아프가니스탄에 지원할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
이밖에 세계은행도 1백10억 달러를, 독일과 노르웨이도 각각 6억 달러 이상을 아프가니스탄에 지원하기로 했으며, 프랑스는 지원금을 1억6천5백만 달로 두 배 늘리기로 했습니다.
아프가니스탄의 하미드 카르자이 대통령은 오늘 회의에서 앞으로 5년간 아프가니스탄 재건 자금으로 5백억 달러를 지원해줄 것을 국제사회에 요청했습니다.

The United States and some 80 international donors have pledged more than 14 billion dollars in additional aid to help rebuild Afghanistan over the next five years.
U.S. First Lady Laura Bush said today (Thursday) at a donor conference in Paris that the United States would contribute more than 10 billion dollars in help.
Among the other pledges, the World Bank promised one-point-one billion dollars. Germany and Norway each pledged more than 600 hundred million dollars, while France announced a doubling of its aid to 165 million dollars.
At the same time, several leaders called on the Afghan government to work harder to counter the corruption which has plagued reconstruction efforts.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has appealed for 50 billion dollars in international aid over the next five years for long-term support for security and infrastructure.
