The presumed U.S. Democratic Party presidential nominee, Barack Obama, has officially started his campaign by saying his opponent would worsen the country's already flailing economy.
Obama accused Republican John McCain today (Monday) of wanting to expand the economic policies of President George Bush, whose administration Obama called the "most fiscally irresponsible" in history.
Speaking to voters in the southeastern state of North Carolina, Obama mocked McCain's claim to be a fiscal conservative. He said the Republican's support for President Bush's tax cuts would double the country's already massive debt.
The Democratic senator is focusing this week on Americans' growing frustration with home mortgage foreclosures, record-high gasoline prices and growing unemployment.
