오바마 상원 의원은 이 날 워싱턴에서 열린 친 이스라엘 단체인 '미국 이스라엘 공공정책위원회', AIPAC 회의에서 가진 연설에서 이란은 이스라엘의 평화와 안전성에 가장 큰 위협이 되고 있다며 이같이 말했습니다.
이 날 연설은 오바마 상원 의원이 민주당 대통령 후보로 확정된 뒤 가진 첫 대중 연설이었습니다.
오바마 의원은 외교적 노력이 실패하면 이란에 대한 군사적 조치도 고려할 것이라고 밝혔습니다.
힐러리 클린턴 상원의원도 이 날 같은 회의에서 가진 연설에서 이스라엘 군이 가중되는 위협에 방어하기 위해 군대를 강화하는 것을 지지한다고 밝혔습니다.

U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told members of a pro-Israel lobbying group Wednesday that, if elected president, he will do everything in his power to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
In his first major policy speech since clinching the nomination, the Illinois senator told members of an AIPAC meeting in Washington that Iran poses the greatest threat to Israeli peace and stability.
Obama said he would consider military action against Iran if diplomacy fails.
Obama's rival Senator Hillary Clinton, told the conference today she supports strengthening Israel's military to defend against increasing threats.
Presumptive Republican nominee John McCain, who spoke at the conference Monday, has accused Obama of being too soft on Iran by seeking a greater dialogue with its leaders.
In his remarks to AIPAC, McCain also criticized the Democrat for not voting to designate Iran's Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization.
