유엔 인도주의지원조정국, OCHA의 엘리자베스 바이어스 대변인은 이 날 유엔 기구들은 이라와디 델타 지역의 피해가 가장 극심한 지역의 1백30만명의 주민들에게 구호활동을 벌였다며, 그러나 전반적으로 오점이 있고, 불충분한 구호였다고 밝혔습니다.
바이어스 대변인은 양곤에의 구호 물자 전달과 유엔 소속 직원들의 현장 접근이 좀 더 쉬워졌지만 여전히 지속적인 인도주의적 지원에는 어려움이 있다고 밝혔습니다.
바이어스 대변인은 모든 국제 구호기구 요원들이 필요한만큼 현장에 접근하고 있지는 못하다고 밝혔습니다.

The United Nations says about one million people in Burma are still lacking food and water one month after Cyclone Nargis hit.
Elizabeth Byrs, a spokeswoman for a top United Nations (today/Tuesday) humanitarian body (UN Organization for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance) says aid agencies have managed to reach one-point-three million people in the worst hit areas of the Irrawaddy Delta. But she says relief is still generally spotty and insufficient.
Byrs says that while it is easier now to get relief supplies to Rangoon and U.N. staff out into the field, there is still a serious lack of sustained humanitarian assistance.
Byrs notes that not all foreign aid workers are getting the access they need. She urged Burma's military government to pick up the pace for clearance of all international non-governmental organization workers.
