지구촌의 축제인 2008 베이징 올림픽을 밝히는 성화가 4일 중국 국내 봉송에 들어갔습니다.
중국은 이날 동양의 하와이로 불리는 해변 휴양지 하이난에서 수천명의 환영 인파가 국기인 오성홍기를 흔드는 가운데 올림픽 성화 국내봉송을 개시했습니다.
국내 봉송 1호 주자는 동계 올림픽 쇼트 트랙 챔피언인 양양 선수였습니다. 이날 성화 봉송에는 이렇다 할만한 시위나 사건이 없었습니다. 앞서 한국과 일본등에서는 티베트 사태와 북한을 탈출한 탈북자들을 북한으로 되돌려 보내지 말라는 시위와 몸싸움으로 성화 봉송 행사가 얼룩졌습니다.
올림픽 성화는 중국 전국 1백13개 도시를 97일 동안 순회한후 베이징에 입성해 오는 8월8일 개막식에서 성대한 불을 밝히게 됩니다.

The mainland China leg of the Olympic torch relay started today (Sunday) on the southern island of Hainan.
State television showed the beginning of the torch run in the seaside resort of Sanya. Torchbearers were flanked by security personnel.
No protesters were evident during the television coverage. Some demonstrations have taken place during the torch's five-continent journey. Mostly of the protests were over China's crackdown against protests in Tibet.
The state run Xinhua news agency says 208 torchbearers will carry the Olympic flame along a 30 kilometer Hainan route.
The torch will then travel around mainland China, visiting Tibet from June 19th through the 21st, on its way to the opening of the Beijing Olympics on August eighth.
