반기문 유엔 사무총장은 최근 전세계적으로 나타나고 있는 식량 가격 급등 문제를 다루기 위한 대책반을 자신이 직접 지휘하겠다고 밝혔습니다.
반기문 총장은 29일 스위스 베른에서 27개 국제 구호기관들과 가진 식량위기 대책회의에서 이같이 밝혔습니다.
반기문 유엔 사무총장은 일부 가난한 나라들에서 기아와 폭동, 사재기 등을 촉발하고 있는 식량가격 폭등에 대처하기 위한 국제적 노력을 조직하고 있다고 말했습니다.
반 총장은 굶주린 사람들에게 식량을 제공하고, 유엔 세계식량계획을 위해 7억5천5백만 달러를 모급하며, 농민들을 돕는 것이 최우선 과제라고 말했습니다.
반 총장과 세계은행의 로버트 죌릭 총재는 식량수출을 금지함으로써 위기를 악화시키지 말라고 촉구했습니다.

United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon says he will head a task force to deal with the unprecedented rise in global food prices.
Mr. Ban made the announcement in Bern, Switzerland, today (Tuesday) at a two-day meeting with 27 key international agencies.
The agencies hope to hammer out emergency measures to combat the food crisis that is causing hunger, riots and hoarding in poor nations around the world.
Mr. Ban says the priorities are feeding the hungry, raising a total of 755 million dollars for U.N.'s World Food Program, and helping farmers.Mr. Ban and World Bank President Robert Zoellick called on countries not to make the crisis worse by banning food exports.
The price of rice declined in Chicago trading today (Tuesday), following news that some key rice growing nations like Brazil and Thailand would not restrict their exports.
But the price of corn rose to a record high after a government report said wet weather would hamper plantings in the United States and perhaps hurt yields.
