유엔 식량농업기구 FAO가 국제 쌀 수출량이 줄어들 것이라고 전망한 후, 3일 미국 시카고 상품 거래소에서 5월 인도분 쌀 가격은 43kg 당 20달러 26센트를 기록하면서 사상 최고치를 경신했습니다.
세계 주요 쌀 수출국들 가운데 중국과 인도,이집트, 베트남 등 네 나라는 이미 국내 공급량 확보를 위해 쌀 수출을 제한하고 있습니다.
이런 가운데 파키스탄은 3일, 쌀 수출량이 15% 감소할 수도 있다고 발표했습니다.

Rice for May delivery reached 20-dollars and 26-cents per 43 kilograms (100 pounds) on the Chicago Board of Trade after a report from the United Nations' Food and Agriculture Organization predicted global rice exports would drop this year.
Four of the world's major rice producing nations -- China, India, Egypt and Vietnam -- have already limited rice exports to ensure domestic supplies.
Pakistan announced today that its rice shipments could fall by 15 percent. The chairman of the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan Muhammad Azhar blamed the drop on power shortages that have prevented rice mills from working at full capacity.
