석유 수출국 기구 (OPEC)의 차킵 켈릴 사무총장은 국제 유가의 오름세가 올해 첫 분기 동안 계속된 뒤 안정될 것이라고 말했습니다.
순회 의장국인 알제리의 석유장관으로서 OPEC 사무총장을 맡고있는 켈릴 장관은 파키스탄내 긴장과 석유 산유국인 나이지리아내 폭력사태의 가중, 미국의 원유재고 감소 등이 유가 상승의 원인이라고 말했습니다.
켈릴 OPEC 사무총장은 현재 세계 시장에 원유가 충분한다며, 오는 2월 1일 오스트리아 빈에서 열리는 OPEC 정례 회의 이전에 원유생산량 증가와 관련한 결정은 나오지 않을 것이라고 말했습니다.
켈릴 사무총장은 5일 알제리 수도 알지에에서 미국 경기침체 때문에 OPEC이 원유 생산량을 증가할 필요는 없을 것이라고 기자들에게 말했습니다.

OPEC's president says he expects crude oil prices to remain high for the first three months of this year before stabilizing.
Chakib Khelil, who is also the Algerian oil minister, blamed the rising oil prices on tensions in Pakistan, increasing violence in oil-rich Nigeria and a decline in U.S. oil inventories.
He said the world market has sufficient oil supplies for now and that no decision on increasing crude oil production will be taken before the next OPEC conference on February first in Vienna.
Khelil told reporters in Algiers Saturday that a
recession in the United States would not prompt OPEC to increase production.
