북핵 6자회담 미국측 수석대표인 크리스토퍼 힐 국무부 차관보는 한국과 중국, 일본, 그리고 러시아 등 북핵 6자회담 참가국을 잇따라 방문하기 위해 4일 워싱턴을 출발한다고, 미 국무부가 3일 밝혔습니다.
힐 차관보는 도쿄에이어 서울과 베이징 그리고 모스코바를 차례로 방문할 예정이지만 평양은 방문하지 않습니다. 힐차관보는 북한이 지난해 연말까지의 핵신고 시한을 지키지 않은데 뒤이어, 북한의 핵활동 신고 약속 이행을 위한 여러가지 촉구 방안을 논의할 것으로 보입니다.
한편, 북한의 핵신고 이행지연에 중국과 미국은 서로 다른 반응을 보이고 있습니다. 부시행정부는 북한의 자체 핵계획의 완전한 신고에 회의적인 반면 중국관리들은 3일 그같은 북한의 지연은 당연하다는 입장을 보였습니다.

The U.S. State Department says the senior U.S. envoy for North Korea's nuclear disarmament will leave for Asia Friday to consult with four other nations involved in the deal.
Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill will begin his trip in Tokyo and also travel to Seoul, Beijing and Moscow. He will not visit Pyongyang.
Hill is expected to discuss efforts to ensure North Korea fulfills an obligation to declare all of its nuclear activities, after it missed a December 31st deadline to do so.
China and the United States have responded differently to North Korea's delay. The Bush administration said it is skeptical that North Korea will ever provide a complete account of its nuclear programs, but Chinese officials today (Thursday) said the delay was natural.
