태국에서 지난해 군사 쿠데타가 발생한 이후 처음으로 실시된 총 선거에서 축출된 탁신 치나왓 전 총리 계열의 신당이 승리를 선포했습니다.
친 탁신 계열인 ‘국민의 힘당 (PPP)’의 사막 순다라베즈 대표는 PPP가 23일의 총선 결과 전체 의석의 거의 절반을 차지했기 때문에 자신이 차기 총리가 될 것이라는 확신을 표명했습니다.
사막 대표는 망명중인 탁신 전 총리가 축하 전화를 걸어왔다고 전했습니다.
공식 집계 결과는 아직 발표되지 않았지만 90% 이상의 개표결과를 Arial Unicode MS,Arial,Verdana으로 한 비공식 결과에서는 PPP가 228개 의석을 차지한 것으로 나타났습니다.
사막 대표는 이같은 의석 수는 하원 전체 480개 의석 가운데 절대 과반수에 미치지 못하기 때문에 자신은 연립정부 구성을 모색할 것이라고 말했습니다.

Allies of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra have declared victory in Thailand's first national election since last year's military coup.
PPP leader Samak Sundaravej says he is confident he will become Thailand's next prime minister because his party has won nearly half of the seats in today's (Sunday) election.
Samak said Mr. Thaksin phoned from exile to offer his congratulations. Samak said that, in his words, "the coup is dead."
Although a final count has not been announced, unofficial results based on more than 90-percent of the vote show the PPP winning 228 seats.
Because this is short of an outright majority in the 480-seat lower house of parliament, Samak said he will seek to form a coalition government.
The next largest block in the parliament appears to belong to the Democrat Party with 166 seats.
