지난 3일부터 인도네시아 발리에서 유엔 기후변화협약회의가 개최 중인 가운데, 40개국의 금융 당국자들은 지구 온난화에 따른 금융 대처 방안에 대해 별도의 협의를 가졌습니다.
이번 금융 협의는 10일부터 이틀간의 일정으로 진행될 예정입니다. 이번 협의에서는 에너지 소비세나 탄소 오염 상한제, 친환경 기술에 대한 보상과 같은 금융 정책에 대해 논의할 예정입니다.
유엔 기후변화협약회의는 오는 14일 폐막됩니다. 당국자들은 이번 협의가 지구 기후 변화에 따른 최종 해법을 도출하기 위한 것이 아니라 향후 2년 간의 협상 계획안을 도출하려는 데 목적이 있다고 밝혔습니다.
이번 협의에서는 오는 2012년 만료되는 교토 의정서를 대신할 새로운 협정이 도출될 예정입니다.
Finance officials from nearly 40 countries are holding talks on the sidelines of a U.N.-sponsored conference on climate change in Bali to discuss financial measures and the fight against global warming.
The two-day meeting hosted by Indonesia begins today (Monday). It will deal with financial policies, such as energy taxes, caps on carbon pollution and incentives for green technologies, including wind, solar power and clean coal.
The Bali climate summit ends Friday. Officials say the conference is not trying to reach a final solution on climate goals, but instead aims to develop a negotiation roadmap for the next two years.
Organizers say that roadmap will be used to try and reach a new agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.
