United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has visited Antarctica to get a first-hand look at the effect of climate change.
Mr. Ban flew to a Chilean Air Force base on the frozen continent on Friday for a briefing with scientists there. He also took an aerial tour of the famous Collins Glaciers, and visited the Antarctic research bases of Uruguay and South Korea, his home country.
The U.N. leader -- the first to visit Antarctica -- has made climate change a priority of his five-year term. He says he wants to use his visit to Antarctica to call for a political solution to the phenomenon.
