이 신문은 "중국은 오는 2020년 이전 까지 20톤 규모의 우주정거장을 건설할 것"이라며 중국 달탐사프로젝트 총설계사 이자 '창청(長征) 3호' 로켓을 설계한 저명 인사 룽러하오 박사의 말을 인용해 이같이 전했습니다.
중국은 지난 달 최초의 달탐사 위성인 '창어(嫦娥) 1호'를 발사하는 등 우주 개발에 대한 야심을 내비치고 있습니다.
China has made public for the first time its plans to launch a space station into orbit by 2020.
A leading designer of China's Long March 3A rocket, Long Lehao, tells the official China Daily newspaper that the planned space station will be a small-scale 20-ton workshop.
The paper did not say whether the station would be manned permanently, but it did say that Long's comments were the first time a specific date has been given for the station.
The release of the date comes just as a China's first lunar probe (the Chang'e 1) entered its final orbit around the moon today (Wednesday) where it will carry out measurements of the lunar surface for about a year.
