파키스탄의 라왈핀디 시에 있는 페르베즈 무샤라프 대통령 집무실 근처에서 자살 폭탄 공격이 발생해 적어도 7명이 사망하고 11명이 부상했다고, 파키스탄 당국자들이 밝혔습니다.
라왈핀디 시 경찰서장은 무샤라프 대통령 집무실에서 얼마 떨어지지 않은 한 대로상의 경찰 검문소에서 폭발이 발생했다고 말했습니다.
당국자들은 폭발 당시 무샤라프 대통령은 집무실에 있어 안전했다면서, 폭탄범이 누구를 표적으로 삼았는지는 불확실한 상황이라고 말했습니다.
무샤라프 장군은 2003년 12월에 두 차례, 그리고 지난 7월에 한 차례 등 적어도 3차례 암살 위기를 모면했습니다.
올해 들어 파키스탄에서는 정치와 군사 당국자들을 겨냥한 잇단 자살 폭탄 공격들이 발생했습니다.
라왈핀디 시에서는 지난 9월에도 2건의 자살폭탄 공격으로 25명이 사망했습니다.

Pakistani officials say a suicide bomber has killed at least seven people near the headquarters of President Pervez Musharraf, in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.
Rawalpindi Police Chief Saud Aziz says the blast occurred at a police checkpoint on a main road in the city, a short distance from President Musharraf's office.
Authorities say General Musharraf was safely in his office at the time of the attack. They say it is not clear who the bomber was targeting.
General Musharraf has survived at least three assassination attempts -- two in December 2003 and one in July as his plane took off from Rawalpindi airport.
Pakistan has suffered a string of suicide bombings against military and political officials this year.
The upsurge in violence has been linked to the government's deadly crackdown on the radical Red Mosque in Islamabad earlier this year. A spokesman for the interior ministry dismissed the connection, instead blaming what he called "extremist elements" in Pakistan.
