소말리아 주둔 아프리카연합소속 평화유지군 대변인인 패디 앤군다(Paddy Ankunda) 장군은 모가디슈 근교의 항구에서 23일 박격포 공격이 일어나 최소한 세명의 우간다 병사가 부상당했다고 말했습니다.
소말리아 주둔 아프리카연합 평화유지군 확대를 위해 우간다는 지난 3월 천 6백명의 군인을 파병했습니다. 평화유지군 확대 작업은 아직도 진행중입니다.
한편, 소말리아 당국자들은 지난주 테러집단과의 연루 혐의로 구금된되었던 세계식량기구 직원을 석방했습니다.
세계식량기구 대변인은 소말리아에서 해당 기구의 최고위 담당자인 이드리스 오스만의 건강상태가 양호하다고 밝혔습니다.
소말리아 헌법부의 압둘라 쉐이크 이스마일 장관은 미국의 소리 방송에 오스만씨를 체포한 것을 후회한다고 밝히고, 세계식량기구가 소말리아에서 활동을 재개하기를 희망했습니다.
세계식량기구는 오스만씨가 17일 체포된 이후 수도 모가디슈에서 식량 배급을 중단했습니다.

Uganda sent 16-hundred troops to Somalia in March to be part of a larger A.U. force that has yet to materialize.
Somalia has endured 16 years of chaos that has worsened since January, when Islamist insurgents began attacking allied government and Ethiopian troops.
