The National Basketball Association's Orlando Magic has overpowered the Chinese league All Stars, 116-92, in an exhibition game played at the Chinese casino city of Macau (known as Asia's Las Vegas).
Carlos Arroyo led the Magic with 25 points. Thursday's game might have been closer if China's roster included the country's two biggest stars -- center Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets and the newest Chinese NBA player, Yi Jianlian. Yi is a two meters-13 tall power forward with the Milwaukee Bucks. Both players are busy with their own pre-season schedules and could not return to their homeland for the game (at the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel).
Olumide Oyedeji led China with 25 points. The Nigerian center was a second-round draft pick by the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics in 2000 and has also played professionally in Puerto Rico and South Korea. Wang Zhizhi added 16 points.
Orlando had beaten the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday in Shanghai (90-86) and will match up again on Saturday in Macau. The exhibition games are part of the NBA's push to build a bigger audience in China.
