3일 이라크 바그다드에서 발생한 차량 폭탄 공격으로 이라크 주재 폴란드 대사가 부상을 입었습니다.
이라크 관리들은 바그다드의 알-아라사트 구역에서 발생한 이번 공격에서 지난가던 행인 1사람과 적어도 4명의 다른 민간인이 사망했다고 밝혔습니다.
관리들은 공격 직후 이라크 주재 폴란드 대사가 인근 병원으로 이송됐다고 말했습니다. 하지만 폴란드 대사의 상태가 위독한 것은 아닌 것으로 알려졌습니다.
폴란드는 2003년 미국의 이라크 침공을 크게 지지했으며, 현재 약 1천명의 폴란드 군대가 이라크에 주둔하고 있습니다.
한편, 미군 주도 연합군은 2일 이라크 북부 디얄라 지방에서 발생한 2건의 도로변 폭탄 공격에서 핵심 역할을 한 무장요원 2명을 구금했다고 밝혔습니다.
Poland's ambassador to Iraq was wounded as explosions targeted his diplomatic convoy in Baghdad today (Wednesday).
Iraqi officials say one civilian passerby was killed and at least four other people were wounded in the attack which happened in al-Arasat neighborhood of the city.
The officials said the ambassador (General Edward Pietrzyk) was taken to a nearby hospital. He is said to have suffered non life-threatening injuries.
Poland strongly supported the U.S-led invasion of Iraq in 2003, and currently has around one-thousand troops in the country.
On Tuesday, the U.S. military said coalition forces detained two key militants who are
responsible for roadside bomb blasts in the northeastern province of Diyala.
A statement said the two were captured during a raid on Saturday. It says one is a high-ranking terrorist who directed attacks against Sunni civilians, Iraqi forces and coalition troops. The other is accused of being a key supplier of improvised explosive devices.
