기상전문가들은 멕시코의 유명 관광지인 캔쿤은 직접적인 영향을 받지 않을 것이라고 말했지만, 많은 관광객들이 허리케인이 도착하기 전에 캔쿤을 떠나기 위해 공항으로 몰려 큰 혼잡을 이뤘습니다.

Weather forecasters say the eye of Hurricane Dean has made landfall on the east coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula and is lashing Belize and Mexico's Caribbean coast with high winds and driving rain.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center issued an advisory saying preparations in the hurricane warning area along the Gulf Coast of Mexico should be rushed to completion.
The U.S. National Weather Service said Monday the storm had strengthened into a potentially catastrophic category five hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 260 kilometers per hour.
Also on Monday, Mexico shut down its offshore oil facilities and evacuated thousands of tourists from the affected area.
Forecasters said Cancun may be spared a direct hit, but many visitors swarmed the local airport to try to get out of the area before the storm's arrival.
